For Nonprofit Organizations

I have a lot of ideas about things that I’d like to do with my life–chef, judge, librarian! But the thing that I feel most compelled to do, because I know that it’s what I do best, is to help nonprofit organizations that I believe are doing tremendous work serving their communities also have great success in the advocacy arena. I see organizations that have so very much to say to policymakers, but very limited time in which to develop the expertise that they need to be effective. I have learned a lot, from experience, about how to advocate alongside one’s clients, and I have the luxury now of adding theoretical knowledge to that practical learned experience. And I want to share that with you.

Please use the materials from this site that can help you in developing your advocacy work. Take the stories as inspiration for the wonderful things that you will accomplish. And let me know if I can be of additional assistance to you. I am happy to answer questions from any nonprofit organizations working to advance social justice, and I am also available to consult more closely with those organizations seeking assistance in:

  • Crafting legislative agendas
  • Developing talking points, press releases, op-ed pieces, legislative testimony, and other materials
  • Creating campaign strategy plans for legislative work
  • Training staff, volunteers, and Board members in the skills of advocacy
  • Planning advocacy events, including lobby days, legislative visits, and fundraisers
  • Preparing media strategies
  • Designing, conducting, analyzing, and presenting original survey research on a client population or other facet of the organization’s work
  • Providing other assistance, as the campaign and the organization’s capacity demand

I look forward to the opportunity to help you achieve your organization’s advocacy goals and, most importantly, to playing even a small part in your efforts to secure justice for populations in need.
